Song • Ming • Qing Dynasty Porcelain

Wed., October.20.2021 ~ Sun., February.20

China was the world's first producer of porcelain, which it exported it as a trade item, introducing many exquisite works to Europe, Islamic and Southeast Asian countries, and Japan. In particular, various porcelain pieces created during the Song Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty were imported and incorporated into the Japanese tea ceremony. As a result of the demand for such excellent Chinese pieces, domestic porcelain production began in Imari in the early 17th century, and was heavily influenced by the Chinese techniques. This exhibition highlights select masterpieces from our collection of Chinese porcelain from the Song to the Qing Dynasties. We hope you enjoy the beauty of this collection, including the elegance of Song Porcelain and the power of the Ming Dynasty’s red pieces.
